SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION PROCESS

2020 scholarship applications are due on February 1st.
Notifications will be sent out March 1st.

Please read the following instructions carefully and follow everything exactly. We reserve the right to reject any applications which do not follow these instructions to the letter. If you have any questions, please contact us for assistance.

If you are planning to attend KBHC even without a scholarship, please use the regular application process and send us your deposit check in addition to applying for the scholarship. If you win a scholarship, your deposit will be refunded. A scholarship application will not automatically reserve you a place at camp and we usually fill up in early spring.

All submissions will be done electronically. For the playing portion of the application, you must record video of the applicant playing the material and upload it to YouTube. The video must show the applicant playing their instrument. Still images or a black screen are not acceptable. The application process consists of 6 parts.  Recommendation forms must be emailed separately by the recommenders.

  1. APPLICATION FORM – can be found at the bottom of this page

SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION

Cormont Music, the New Hampshire non-profit corporation founded in 1997 by Kendall Betts to parent KBHC, was granted full tax-exempt status by the Internal Revenue Service in 1999 and is permitted by law to accept tax-deductible donations.  This has resulted in the creation of the KBHC Scholarship Fund.  Since the fund’s inception, more than 140 students have received full tuition scholarships to KBHC. The purpose of the scholarships is to give an opportunity to participate at KBHC 2020 to promising, highly motivated, deserving horn students which they would not otherwise have.  To that end, horn students, age 14 and older as of June 13, 2020, may apply for a scholarship valued at up to one full week of tuition, room and board at KBHC 2020: June 13 – 20 or June 21 – 28.  Applicants who are in high school at the present time must be scheduled to graduate in the classes of 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, or 2024 and must be currently studying horn privately.  Adult applicants must be either full or part-time students who are pursuing a post-secondary degree at the present time or college graduates who are currently studying horn privately.  The recipients of a scholarship will be selected on the basis of performance ability, personal motivation, character, and a demonstrated need for financial aid in order to participate at KBHC.
