Mock Auditions

One of the cornerstones of a well-rounded horn education is the study of orchestral excerpts. Whether you aspire to play in a professional orchestra or are simply a music enthusiast who enjoys the horn, odds are good that auditions will be part of your musical journey.

At each week of KBHC, we provide the opportunity to participate in a mock audition. High school participants compete against other high school participants, while college and adult participants compete at the professional level.

For KBHC 2022, our prizes include:

  • a one-hour lesson with Frank Lloyd, internationally renowned soloist and retired professor of horn at the Folkwang University of Arts in Essen, Germany
  • a one-hour lesson with SFC JG Miller, member of The United States Army Field Band
  • a one-hour lesson with Jesse McCormick, second horn of the Cleveland Orchestra and associate artistic director of Kendall Betts Horn Camp
  • a copy of Rick Seraphinoff’s book, Corno de Capo

If you wish to participate in the mock audition, you may notify us of your intentions upon your arrival at camp. In the meantime, please prepare the following material.
