Professional Players
Absolutely! We have had many professionals attend throughout the years, and they have expressed the joy of stepping outside their busy schedule to reconnect with their playing. Professionals especially appreciate:
- The ability to spend a week focused on their own horn playing, away from gigs, teaching and other commitments
- How warm-ups and fundamentals classes bring them back to the foundation of their playing
- The opportunity to intensely work on their playing in small masterclasses and lessons
- Focused work on solo performance, excerpts, and/ or natural horn as they choose
- Learning or revisiting Alexander Technique for health and longevity in their career
- Enjoyable ensemble playing with peers
- The chance to work with and get to know the faculty and staff as peers and colleagues
Notes from Professional
“When one of the groups I play with announced a tour to Boston in June of 2024 I decided to look into the dates for KBHC to see if I could spend an extra week out east either before or after the tour and attend KBHC. The dates worked out perfectly and I convinced my good friend Wendy to come with me. We both had a blast!! We made wonderful friendships; played excellent music together in our assigned groups and on our own; performed for each other during evening concerts; attended master classes; received solo coaching; worked on our bodies through the Alexander Technique. As a seasoned professional there was something new for me to learn everyday, such as a different way to think about a certain passage of music, or a slight tweak to get the perfect sound for a specific phrase. It was an amazing week and I don’t think it’s possible to find a more encouraging, supportive environment for horn players.”

“KBHC was a wonderful experience for me. I am so glad that I attended. The insights that I gained by observing how various musical concepts were taught was invaluable, and I have implemented many of these methods with my own students. As a professional, I found the greatest value for me was networking with other artists and teachers out of my area. The staff was also very warm and welcoming.“
