Isabella Kolasinski
Hailing from Long Island, NY, Isabella Kolasinski currently studies at Arizona State University, under the mentorship of Dr. John Ericson. As a teaching assistant in the ASU Horn Studio, Isabella teaches undergraduate horn majors/minors, along with teaching the Horn Lab class to music education majors. She also maintains a studio of talented high schoolers in the metro valley area. Some of her more recent performances include playing with the Arizona Philharmonic, Phoenix Brass Collective, Salt River Brass Band, Musica Nova Orchestra, and the Scottsdale Philharmonic. Other notable performances include performing at the 2023 International Tuba and Euphonium Conference with Douglas Yeo, Andrew Norman’s Try in the Phoenix Symphony REVERB Contemporary Music Festival and performing at the 2023 AZCornoCon in Tucson, AZ. Along with University ensembles, Isabella is a member of some of ASU’s top chamber ensembles, the ASU Chamber Winds, and the Arizona Contemporary Music Ensemble.
While studying at the University of Michigan, Isabella had the opportunity to play in the renowned University of Michigan Symphony Band and Symphony Orchestra. Performing world premieres by composers such as Nico Muhly, Kristin Kuster, and Roshanne Etezady. Notable performances include Benjamin Britten’s Serenade for Tenor, Horn, and Strings, and Robert Schumann’s Konzertstuck for four horns, Op. 86. Other accomplishments include winning first place in the 2021 Northeast Horn Workshop Virtual Ensemble Competition (alongside KBHC staff member Aliyah Qualls). Isabella was also awarded a Binkow Grant from the University of Michigan for her brass quintet’s established history and commitment.
Gaining her Bachelor’s degree from The Crane School of Music in Potsdam, NY, Isabella frequently played in the upstate New York area with The Orchestra of Northern New York and was a member and scholarship recipient of the Arthur Frackenpohl Honors Brass Quintet. In 2018, she was awarded an Honors in Performance Certificate and performed in the Crane School of Music Honors Recital, representing the brass area. Isabella is currently working on her DMA at Arizona State University and anticipates graduating in the Spring of 2024.
