Nicholas Grey

Based in Rochester, New York, Nicholas Grey is a French horn player pursuing a Bachelor of Music in Performance at the Eastman School of Music, where he studies with W. Peter Kurau. Alongside his musical studies, Nicholas is also pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Data Science at the University of Rochester, reflecting his commitment to both artistic and academic growth.

Originally from Melbourne, Florida, Nicholas began performing at an early age with orchestras and wind ensembles throughout Central Florida. In the summer of 2025, Nicholas was selected as a fellow at the Festival of Winds in Monterey, California. 

Since arriving at Eastman, he has performed with the Eastman Wind Orchestra, Eastman Symphony Orchestra, and Eastman Horn Choir, working under the direction of conductors including Anthony Parnther, Mei-Ann Chen, Peter Kurau, and Dr. Rodney Dorsey. Beyond Eastman, he has performed with ensembles such as the Naples Philharmonic and Forza Wind Symphony.

Nicholas attended Cormont Horn Camp as a camper during the summers of 2023, 2024, and 2025. Over the course of these summers, he developed a deep appreciation for the camp’s unique collaborative and supportive musical environment. The faculty’s mentorship has had a lasting influence on both his playing and his developing approach to teaching.

His primary teachers and mentors include Peter Kurau, Maura McCune Corvington, Jacek Muzyk, Gail Williams, Nathaniel Silberschlag, Benjamin Lieser, Juan Berrios, and Joseph Lovinsky, among many others.
