Jennifer Kempe


Staff Sergeant Jennifer Kempe is originally from Champaign, Illinois. SSG Kempe is a member of The United States Army Field Band, the Army’s premier touring concert band. The U.S. Army Field Band performs for thousands of people across the country, honoring veterans and connecting to the American people. In addition to performing with the Concert Band, Jennifer is a member of The U.S. Army Field Band’s Woodwind Ambassadors, a woodwind quintet ensemble that performs at colleges and schools across the country while the band is on tour. 


Prior to joining the U.S. Army Field Band, Jennifer was based out of the Quad City area in Iowa, performing as Principal Horn of the Battle Creek Symphony and second horn of the Dubuque Symphony Orchestra. She has also performed with numerous ensembles throughout the Midwest, including the Quad City Symphony Orchestra, Tallgrass Brass Band, Lansing Symphony Orchestra, Champaign-Urbana Symphony Orchestra, and The Kalamazoo Civic Theatre Pit Orchestra. Jennifer has taught students of all ages, maintaining a private horn studio and teaching brass lessons in local schools in the Quad City area.

Jennifer holds a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education from the University of Illinois, and a Master of Music degree from Western Michigan University. Her primary teachers include Bernhard Scully and Lin Foulk. Jennifer attended KBHC in 2013 as a camper and is excited to return as a faculty member!
