Laura Chicarello is a private instructor and freelance performer in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. She enjoys a full teaching schedule including over 40 middle and high school students. Her students regularly audition successfully into District and Region Honor Bands, and receive scores of 1 at solo contests.

In East Texas, she has performed with the Odysseus Chamber Orchestra, Allen Philharmonic, and Marshall Symphony Orchestra, as well as several orchestras in Louisiana, including the Shreveport, Baton Rouge, and Rapides Symphony Orchestras.

As a soloist, Laura performed Schumann’s Concertpiece for Four Horns and Orchestra with the Natchitoches-Northwestern Symphony as a member of the Millennium Horn Quartet, who won the orchestra’s concerto competition in 2016.

Her MM Performance Document, titled American Storyteller: The Music and Pedagogy of Wayne Lu, was accompanied by a recital tour spanning multiple states, where she appeared as a lecturer and regional artist at the 2016 Northeast and Mid-South Horn Workshops, as well as the University of Southern Mississippi.

After her time at KBHC in 2017, Laura is excited to be attending the Pierre Monteux School and Music Festival.

Laura has attended Kendall Betts Horn Camp as a participant since 2009, joining the staff in 2012. She previously taught as a counselor at the Summer Youth Music School at the University of New Hampshire in 2011 and 2012.

Laura holds a MM from Northwestern State University of Louisiana, under the tutelage of Dr. Kristine Coreil, and a BME from the University of New Hampshire, where she studied with Kendall Betts.

Outside of the horn world, Laura enjoys distance running and Mexican food, but not at the same time.
